Proud to be Minnesotan
Recently, I was talking to friend about weddings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities is quite the style hotspot in the country...no seriously, it is. With the world-class theaters and museums as well as one of the highest saturations of photographers, graphic designers, and architects, this is a creative town. More and more fashionistas are moving to MN to infuse the culture with their aesthetic. It truly is an artist town(s) with many MANY talented players.
Which is why I think it is important to embrace your Minnesotan-ness with your wedding. We don't have to be like NYC or LA or Napa or Austin or Nantucket. It is great to look at the style blogs and educate yourself on your personal aesthetic tastes, but don't think that in order to be chic, you HAVE to have a NYC-styled wedding.
So bring out the lake side resort venue, birch tree centerpieces, and delicious bars and make your wedding true to your roots! Whether you have a clean, dramatic location like the Walker Art Center or Guthrie Theater, or arrive at your ceremony in a canoe and serve hot dish for dinner, just be sure to plan your wedding for your tastes, not anyone else's.
